It was my wish since I finished my graduation to host an exhibition of my own paintings and show my creative side to the world. Generally students from commercial and advertising media don’t exhibit their artworks. It was for the first time that me and my friends have taken this initiative where students from ‘Applied Arts’ department have organized an independent exhibition of their own.
I am glad to share these moments with you where we got much appreciation and boost for our work. It all started with deciding the group name. I had my friends Smita, Sarita and Apurva with me. We all came from various backgrounds but we love and enjoy being together. We had a common objective for this exhibition.
Since it was our first show and our first step towards doing something big we wanted some creative name for this. Apoorva and me thought many names but were not able to finalize any. Finally we freezed a beautiful name – ‘Creotart’. The name itself is a fusion of two words – Creativity and Art.
It was a big challenge for us indeed. We had to do everything from the scratch. Right from fixing the venue to deciding the chief guests and organizing the bit and pieces of the work it was all upon us. We searched nearly all Art colleges and Art galleries in the Pune in search of the best place for us.
Finally we decided the venue and it was ‘Balgandharava Art Gallery’ in Pune.
We love paintings. We worked hard to put life on the canvas for this exhibition. It took us late night to finish the work in time. We all are doing a job so we finished the paintings by staying late at nights. However we didn’t feel stress at all since we were doing something that we wanted to do since long time and we enjoyed it a lot!
We were lucky to have Prof. Mr. Girish Charwad, Creative Art Director, Mr. Rameshwar Jawanjal, and Asst. Prof. Tushar Panke. They really appreciate our works, spirit and promised us to help for everything, anytime.
I enjoyed the inauguration moment a lot. It was really memorable! Initially I was anxious about the opening day response and if things will work out. However it was all fun in the end.
It was surprising for us when we realized that an internationally acclaimed artist Mr. Murali Lahoti visited our exhibition. He is a very famous artist whose name has been recommended to Guinness Book of World Records for highest number of One Man Shows). We were all pleased to see him there. He gave us many tips and encouraged us to keep doing the good work.
Our group show was a mixture of different art style and different works. It was a great collection of an art paintings and photography. Basically I worked on Portraits and Landscapes. I used water color medium for it. I have affection with nature so I always try to capture the beauty on a blank canvas. When it comes to portraits I believe that every person looks different, thinks differently and has different emotions. I enjoy making the portrait as they are.
We got tremendous response from local people. Everyone appreciated our work. We got more appreciation for the fact that we all four friends work in the IT sector still devote our time for creative work and want to present our creativity to the world.
On the last day of the exhibition I was pleasantly surprised when I checked the Feedback book and it was filled with all the positive and encouraging words by people who visited our exhibition.
After this memorable and pleasant experience I feel much motivated and we have decided that we will host similar exhibitions in all the cities in future.
